Front Body Damage Advice
Just wondering if I could tap the hive mind on this one. I'm fairly handy with most things and a bit of maintenance car wise but I've never really done much body work.
My 06 Yaris Hatchback had a rather nasty collision with a rock in the front passenger side while she was on a road trip in Europe ![]() dRTWdkU.jpg HyqNI0b.jpg SIpwFmc.jpg As you can see the radiator frame is damaged, the plastic splash shields and there is a split in the passenger side headlamp. I need a new bumper too. Am I correct in assuming the front end of the car is all bolted together? No welding needed? Therefore I could get the front cut off a scrap vehicle, straighten it out and whack a donor front on bolt/clip it together, a bit of paint? Or am I off my rocker? Is this damage to severe? ![]() Amazingly the car has since done 10,000 miles (7000 of them in Europe) and there are no issues with steering or handling even at autobahn speeds. Not only am I kind of attached to this shitbox, my finances will be more suited to buying a newer vehicle in 3 or 4 years when the rust finally wrecks it so a repair for scrapyard prices, a weekend or two of my time and a few parts seems more appealing. |

So long as the front snout on the unibody is not bent (looks ok in your pics) it is a pretty simply nut and bolt job. Just grab the complete core support from a parts car and bolt it on yours.

Thanks for the advice chaps. I wasn't quite sure where the unibody ended and where the bolt on frame began and wanted to double check before i drove 70 miles to get a donor front.
Tough little car. I thought i was in the shit big time when it happened. I was 1000 miles from home. I'll be glad when i get it fixed. |
