Let me know when you'd like to visit. That would be fun.

Got the tooter et up and running this morning...

I messed up a little on the attitude of the throttle body as the rotation is about 30 degrees off, but it's not enough to keep it from working.

Drove it only a little bit today because of work, and it drives really good even with ECU just relearning the new operating parameters. It's just as quiet as stock in regular driving, but makes a really cool swooshing bwwwaaa sound when you step on the gas pedal. I think that's because there are no baffles in the plenum like there are in the regular tooter. And also I did a lot of porting on the mouths of the runners so that they are way more open and less restrictive than they were before.

I'm going to drive it around until everything is acclimated and then put it on the dyno, as that's the most trustworthy indicator of any changes.

Took it for a long drive up north on the 5 freeway (65-80mph) and up to Mt. Pinos and got 42.6 mpg in 248 miles.

It's ready to dyno now, so when work allows I'll be off to Harry's shop.

It should work just fine since Toyota had already put the same design on their cars...

I haven't been able to find this manifold in the US. However, it was installed on 1998 Toyota Starlets in the UK and in Pakistan.

I'd love to find one and see if the tooter flange would fit onto it, because building the tooter et took a lot of work.

Oops, I guess you could cut it off again and have it rewelded.

That's exactly what I'm going to do. It's a small issue and simple to resolve. That's the beauty of aluminum. It's easy to work with. But before I do that, first I want to drive it around and then put it on the dyno, because rotating the throttle body is only for aesthetics and isn't going to make any difference in how it runs.

relocate the battery or get a capacitor style battery like CTScott is experimenting with and it will be gravy.

^ A small dry cell battery would work great, that's what I use in my cars. Mine weighs 4 pounds.

Way to go, tooter

Well, remember that was just one long trip, and most of it was between 65mph and 80 mph. It'll settle down to a more reasonable average in a little while.

I can say this. The engine runs really good on the freeway, and if I had to hazard a guess why, it would be porting the mouths of the runners. Those rough welds were really overhanging the intakes.

The dyno will tell the tale.
All the bullshit ends there.

Sorry, Blue.

I've been distracted with developing another tooter product...

And just got the prototype running on my truck today...

It made the intake runners 12% longer and really lowered the torque curve. I can slip the clutch in first gear with no gas pedal and the truck doesn't stall out even down to just 400rpm.

The Yaris is running great...

...and It'll be on the dyno soon after we drive it a while to make sure everything gets settled in.

I cut about half of the bend off of the slilcone coupling to straighten the intake because the air filter didn't need that much bend. So it's all ready to run...

Just called Harry...

...dyno test is on for Saturday.
