DIY LED Strip under the door panel
FINALLY i have finished my LED installation, it took me a while to do this because i have some problems with the wiring stuffs..
the LED will turn on when the door is opened. 1st pic - Full LED ON 2nd pic - Partly ON 3rd pic - Night View (Full LED ON) 4nd pic - Night View (Partly ON) 5nd Pic - A switch to turn it OFF #just wondering which light pattern looks better? the 1st pic or the 2nd pic? . . . . # A Special thanks to "CTScott" because he helped me a lot, thanks... . . . . TUTORIAL: # sorry for my poor English STEP 1: remove the Passenger seat's glove box. u will see a fuse box on your left inside the glove box area. STEP 2: on the top left of the Fuse box, u will see a blue (constant 12V) wire and pink wire ("door open" signal). it will be use to wire your LED strip. tap a wire to the BLUE wire from the fuse box and connect it to one of your switch's terminal STEP 3: connect the LED strip's "+" (usually the Red wire) to the other terminal of your switch STEP 4: connect the "-" (usually the Black wire)of your LED to the PINK wire which is located in the fuse box. STEP 5: drill a hole on those removal panel in order to fit in your switch's size. STEP 6: place your LED strips to your desired location and stick it with the provided double sided tap. STEP 7: u may HIDE all the wires behind the panel, i think this won't be a hard job. u may hide the wires wherever u feel like to. FINAL STEP: Turn ON your switch and you are ready to GO.... wait for the Night to come. Hope this helps..... ENJOY! . . . . Last edited by charleschia1986; 12-06-2009 at 10:42 PM. |

1st pic is better. 2nd pic looks like some of the LEDs had blown.
A DIY on wiring it up would be nice indeed. |

how about attaching the LED strips to the bottom of the door frame? You will require the SMD LED strips because the clearance is very low. Just clean the bottom frame, double sided tape (I also used clear tape for some extra adherence). You just need to run the wires through the doors which requires removing the door panel to get access.

nice mod, actually i tried this as well before i put these on. personal preference, i found that is nicer to put it on the door panel because you can see the LED lights which really look good. some more during nite time, the led will make the whole door frame looks blue, look at da 3rd pic (nite view) =D |

I guess it's just preference. I prefer having light illuminate the ground where I can see what I might want to avoid stepping on as I exit, as opposed to lighting up my cabin with blue as I exit.

Wow I'm glad i found this, I been looking for a way to attach my LED door sill to the door sensors. This is perfect, now just gotta rewire it, thanks for the info and great job on yours, that looks really cool. I would have to say I like the one with the full LED strip on. Now i'm pondering putting LEDS underneath my door now.

I installed these yesterday, but to clean up my wiring was hoping to eliminate the rocker switch i installed. Anyone know if I can just have both led wires go to the fuse box and not have a ground. Right now using the above set up there is no ground and all works fine, but again just want to bypass having an extra switch.
